Operations Branch Officers

Sub-Lieutenants in the Operations branch undergo further training at the Naval Engineering College for 2-1/2 years. During this period, they participate in an electronics engineering degree program, earning a degree from NUST (National University of Sciences & Technology).

Upon successful engineering graduation, Operations branch officers go through professional courses at various schools, including:

• Surface Warfare
• Underwater Warfare
• Electronic Warfare
• Communications
• Navigation & Operations

NBCD

Equipped with educational and professional training, these officers are assigned to Pakistan navy ships to obtain watch-keeping certificates.

Mechanical Branch Officers

Mechanical branch officers undergo an additional 2-1/2 years of training at the PN Engineering College in Mechanical Engineering. This earns them a BE (Mechanical) degree from NUST. Subsequently, these officers join the fleet to pursue watch-keeping certificates on board naval ships.

Logistic Branch Officers

Logistics branch officers enroll in the School of Logistics and Management, affiliated with the Institute of Business Administration. After 2 years of training, they earn a BBA(Hons) degree and join Pak Naval ships to acquire their competency certificates.

Engineering Cadets

After completing 26 weeks at PNA, Graduate entry cadets graduate as Midshipmen and commence duty on ships. During their time in the fleet, they gain firsthand experience of life at sea while engaging in various roles on board. Subsequently, following 26 weeks of training at sea, Midshipmen are commissioned as Sub-Lieutenants with backdated seniority.

NOTE: Free messing, accommodation, and uniforms will be provided during the training period.

Eligibility Requirements

• Unmarried male citizens of Pakistan.
• Age: Not exceeding 28 years.
• Minimum Height: 162.5 Centimeters (5’ – 4”).

• • BE Electrical/Electronics for Operations and Weapon Engineering Branch of Submarine Service.
  • BE Mechanical for Marine Engineering Branch of Submarine Service.

Join Pak Army As Short Service Commission Officer

The Pakistan Navy initiates the induction of Short Service Commission Officers in the following branches as and when the need arises. The Short Service Commission is initially for a period of five years, which may be extended and converted into a permanent commission:

• Education Branch
• Special Branch (Computer Programmer/IT Specialists)
• Law Branch

Candidates selected for Short Service Commission undergo nine months of training at various training establishments of the Pakistan Navy.

Education Branch

Eligibility Requirements

• Male/Female citizen of Pakistan.
• Age: Not exceeding 28 years.
• Minimum Height: 162.5 Centimeters (5’ – 4”).
• Qualification: MA/MSC in Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Psychology, Islamic Studies, English & Urdu with at least 2nd division from a recognized university.

Special Branch: Computer Programmers

Eligibility Requirements

• Citizenship: Male/Female citizens of Pakistan
• Age: Between 20 to 35 years
• Minimum Height: 162.5 Centimeters (5’ – 4”)
• Qualification: Must possess a Masters Degree from a recognized university in one of the following disciplines:

Law Branch

Eligibility Requirements

• Citizenship: Male/Female citizen of Pakistan
• Age: Between 25 to 40 years
• Minimum Height: 162.5 Centimeters (5’ – 4”)
• Qualification:
  • In possession of a Law Degree held in addition to a degree in Arts or Sciences from a recognized university.
  • A practicing member of a Bar

Training

Once recruited as cadets, the Pakistan Naval Academy becomes a nurturing ground, focusing on professional, moral, educational, mental, and physical development. The goal is to shape individuals into skilled Naval Officers with strong values of loyalty, honor, courage, and dedication.

After spending 1½ years at the PNA, cadets graduate as midshipmen and start their journey on ships. During this time in the fleet, they gain hands-on experience of life at sea, working in various areas onboard. After completing 6 months of sea training, the midshipmen are promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenants.

Important Note: During the training period, cadets receive free meals, accommodation, and uniforms.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to Join Pak Navy as a Commissioned Officer, candidates must meet certain criteria, including age limitations, educational qualifications, and physical fitness standards. Applicants must be male citizens of Pakistan within the following age range:

• Civilian Candidates: 16 ½ to 21 years
• Service Candidates (Persons serving in Armed Forces in uniform): 17 to 23 years Marital Status: Unmarried (Not applicable for service candidates) Height: Minimum 162.05 Centimeters (5’ – 4”)

Qualification

Candidates must have qualified Matric/ O level and HSSC/ A level with a minimum of 60% marks in any of the following subjects:

• Physics, Maths, Computer Sciences

Ineligibility Conditions

Here are the ineligibility conditions that will stop you to join Pakistan Navy as an officer.

1. Twice Rejected or Screened Out:
   • Twice rejected by ISSB/GHQ/AHQ Selection Board.
   • Twice screened out at ISSB.
2. Medical Conditions:
   • Permanently declared UNFIT by Appeal Medical Board (PUF by AMB).
   • Declared medically unfit due to Hepatitis B&C (AMB cannot be requested).
   • Declared unfit by any Armed Forces Hospital, except those cleared by Appeal Medical Board.
3. Testing Conditions:
   • Tested within four months (120 days) gap of the previous appearance (for not recommended candidates).
   • Tested within the one-year validity period (As validity of ISSB/GHQ/AHQ Selection Board stands for one year).
4. Academic and Training Withdrawals:
   • Withdrawn from any Academy/Training institution of Armed Forces on any ground.
   • Withdrawn from any bounded Armed Forces college/institution on disciplinary grounds.
5. Professional and Legal Issues:
   • Dismissed/removed/debarred from Government Services, including Armed Forces.
   • Convicted in a Court of Law for an offence involving moral turpitude.
6. Academic Certificate Tampering:
   • The candidature of a candidate who tampers with academic certificates, conceals, or provides false information to gain undue advantage will be canceled and declared permanently ineligible for all types of commission in the Pakistan Armed Forces.

Selection Process

1. Entrance Tests:
   • Intelligence test
   • Academic test covering English, Maths, Physics, and General Knowledge.
2. Initial Medical Interview
3. Important Note:
   • Application forms will only be issued to candidates successfully clearing the preliminary tests, interview, and medical examination.
4. Tests/Interview at ISSB Centers:
   • Successful candidates proceed to ISSB Kohat/Gujranwala/Malir/Quetta for additional tests and interviews.
5. Medical Examination:
   • ISSB-recommended candidates undergo a comprehensive medical examination at Combined Military Hospitals (CMHs).
6. Interview by PN Selection Board at NHQ:
   • Candidates passing the medical examination face an interview by the PN Selection Board at NHQ.
7. Final Selection:
   • The ultimate selection is based on merit and determined by NHQ.
